PROJECT OVERVIEW
BigCommerce HR department found that more than 50% of candidates dropped their job applications while they proceeded to apply on our site and they used external sites. If candidates apply through external recruiters, BigCommerce pays for it. We tried to find the best solution to improve our career page and encourage candidates to finish their application with our site.
GOAL
Provided UX updates to the recruiting page that connects the best candidates to their ideal job matches and refines the BigCommerce job search onboarding process.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY
We developed a new interface with a user-centered focus to improve job filtering and search for candidates. I researched other job applications and analyzed why our click-through rate (CTR) on the career page was much lower than on other pages. I aimed to find the best practices to recreate the career page with minimal effort and identify pain points. Finally, I provided the best UX solution to the stakeholders.
UX DESIGN PROCESS
Most of the time, we have five UX processes; those are research & analysis, high-level concept, user flow, wireframe, and visual design.
UX RESEARCH
Job Application Research: Analyzed our job onboarding flow and researched other job search sites, including Amazon Jobs, VMware, Doordash, Facebook Careers, Google, and Uber. I found useful findings and applied those findings to where we can improve.
ONBOARDING USER FLOW
I created an entire user journey for job applicants through our internal application, including the best practice solutions for the onboarding process.
FILTERING SYSTEM EXPLORE
Explored serval ideas and provided three high-level concepts with low-fidelity wireframes to the stakeholders. We had several meetings and discussions and decided to go with option 3.

FINAL HIGH FIDELITY WIREFRAMES
Created UX wireframes with responsive web-based and provided detailed behaviors and status.
FINAL UI DESIGN
UI Design is being finalized based on the UX wireframes and handed over to the dev sprint for implementation.
NEXT STEP
The updated experience should provide better usability and accessibility for optimum results. We will monitor the data across Q4 and make further recommendations in Q1.
